The bloody nightmare is back on the big screen. The surpassed Freddy Krueger, the horror of those who fell asleep, returns to his fans in a new remake, filmed by New Line Cinema under Samuel Bayer direction. Having a long and thrilling prehistory, the new film is based on the original series of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" released in 1984 and directed by famous Wes Craven.
Jackie Earle Haley in the role of Krueger, who has become an eternal veteran of the horror series, appears before the audience again.
The new scenario was written in cooperation of two prominent screenwriters: Wesley Strick and Eric Heisserer, including the original parts, which belong to the pen of Wes Craven himself.
Several teenagers living in suburbs have something in common. All of them fear to fall asleep. The reason of their fears is hidden deep inside of the dreams, coming to them every night. As long as the guys are awake, they have nothing to be afraid of. But when it comes to a sleep time, they get into Freddy Krueger’s grasp. Those, who don’t manage to escape the monstrous lord of nightmares in their dreams, will “awake” dead in reality.
The film touches upon the psychological aspect of nightmares and starts a new trilogy of the famous bloody thriller.
