After a painful divorce John (Kevin Costner) - a father of two children tries to start his life again. Moved to a farm place, he makes attempts to rebuild his family with his youngest son Sam (Gattlin Griffith) on his hands and a teenage daughter Louisa (Ivana Baquero), who both stayed with their father after the divorce.
Soon after removal John begins to notice, that something strange is going to his daughter. First he considers her to be in the difficult age period, but troublesome Louisa doesn’t allow him to breath with relieve. He puts his abilities as a good father under question because of her, but soon realizes, there is another reason of her troubling behavior. The girl suffers from sudden attacks of panic and frustrations, and John seems to have found why it happens to her. There is a burial mound on the field not far from John’s farm, and he suspects it causes Louisa’s fears. Soon John understands that his family is in imminent danger.
The New Daughter” is a mysterious thriller, based on the original story written by John Connolly and adapted by John Travis. Directed by Luis Berdejo, the film touches upon supernatural and mortal danger it causes.
