Gerald “Stone” Creeson (played by Edward Norton) is a convicted arsonist, who was imprisoned for covering up his grandparents’ murder with a fire. Now he has a chance of being released early, but the decision is up to parole officer Jack Mabry.
Jack (played by Robert De Niro) is counting the days till his quiet retirement, when he receives the case of Stone to be reviewed. Stone, who wants to be released by any means, starts playing psychological games with the parole officer, hoping to convince Mabry, he has absolutely reformed. But Stone’s attempts to influence parole officer’s decision and prove Jack, he repents of his deeds, have an unexpected effect on both of them.
The film also stars brilliant Milla Jovovich as gorgeous, sexy and amoral wife of Stone; and Frances Conroy, a Golden Globe winner, in the role of Madylyn, the devoted and long-suffering wife of Jack Mabry.
