The old woman is killed within the walls of Oxford. Her body is found by two men – a professor of logic and a newcomer, who has just arrived at the university. The scholar Arthur Seldom and his student Martin decide to join their forces to investigate this intricate case.
They get to know, that the murdered woman is not the only one killed this way. She is just a first victim in a series of murders, and all the following victims are murdered the same way, so our heroes have to deal with a serial killer. He leaves strange symbols marked on the bodies of the killed, which look like some sort of a mysterious puzzle. The professor and his pupil try to unravel the meaning of these signs and crack the code, which can be the only way to discover the one, who stays behind these murders. Thus our heroes get involved into a very dangerous game, the stakes of which are increasing from day to day…
Starring in the film are John Hurt as professor Arthur Seldom; Elijah Wood as his student Martin; and also Julie Cox, Leonor Watling and Jim Carter.
The criminal thriller from acclaimed filmmaker Álex de la Iglesia is based on the original award-winning novel “The Oxford Murders”, written by Guillermo Martinez.
