Late in the evening two journalists have been killed in their apartment. Both of them investigated the cases of prostitution and sex trafficking from the Eastern Europe to Sweden. Among the clients of this sort of business were some authority representatives, for whom it was certainly desirable to avoid publicity. From the first sight it is evident, that someone of them could desire the death of the journalists.
Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) - a publisher of Millennium magazine and a colleague of the killed decides to take his own investigation. Soon he gets to know, that one of his old familiars Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) is under prime suspicion in murder. Lisbeth is a really weird girl, whose hobby is playing with fire. A state of emergency is declared all over the country. The police are hunting at a woman killer, who is considered to be a psychopath.
Independently from each other Blomkvist and Salander also try to reveal the true, connected with the murder and find a real killer of their colleagues.
“The Girl Who Played with Fire”, directed by Daniel Alfredson, is a great mix of action, thriller and mystery. The scenario of the film is based on the original Millennium trilogy, written by Stieg Larsson. “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” was a first novel from the trilogy published and later filmed. The works of Larsson became a worldwide sensation and won a great success soon after his death.
